Frequently Asked Questions
How to insert and release your Pedal Plates
Watch our instruction videos to learn how to properly insert and release your Pedal Plates:
What does the lifelong product warranty mean?
Pedal Plate offers a lifetime warranty against breakage and a 3-year warranty against wear and tear with normal use. Claims can be made through the company or sales channel where you bought your Pedal Plates. For Pedal Plates purchased directly from us, please follow the procedure described in our return policy.
Which pedal systems are suitable for the Pedal Plate?

At the moment there are two ranges with four Pedal Plate models. For road bikes, we offer models for Shimano SPD-SL and Look KEO pedal systems. Although both may look similar to the untrained eye, these models were developed separately to provide the best possible fit for each pedal system. For MTB and all-road bikes, we offer models for Crankbrothers Eggbeater/Candy and for Shimano SPD / Look X-Track and compatible pedals.
Are my pedals Look Keo Compatible too?

The best way to check is to look at the cleats under your cycling shoes. If you use cleats shaped like standard Look KEO cleats, you are good to go. Compatible brands such as ISSI may also work. You can then order the Look KEO compatible Pedal Plates.
Is KEO model also for Delta pedals?
No. There is a difference between the older Delta system and the current KEO system. The KEO model does not fit Delta pedals properly. If you use KEO pedals, you can order the Look KEO compatible Pedal Plates.
Is SPD the same as SPD-SL?

No. These are two different systems. The SPD-SL Pedal Plate only fits SPD-SL compatible pedals. If your shoes use the smaller metal SPD-style cleats, you will need the SPD / X-Track model instead.
What's in it for me?

Pedal Plate is useful for riders who want to use their bike for more than just sports. It can be a great solution for commuting, holidays, short trips, showing off your bike, lending your bike to a friend or family member, sharing a home trainer without damaging the floor, or simply getting more everyday use out of your road bike. In short: more fun on investment. View all Pedal Plate models.
In which colours do Pedal Plates come?
During the Kickstarter campaign and the first production period, Pedal Plate was available in grey. As a startup, we wanted to keep investment low, so we limited the first production run to one colour. If you have ideas for future colours, feel free to contact us.
I lost the card with the instructions (KEO/SPD-SL)

No problem. That is why we make the instructions available online. View the KEO / SPD-SL instructions.
I can't find the box with the instructions for the MTB models

No problem. We make the instructions available online. View the PDF instructions for both MTB models.
How can I release the Pedal Plate if the roadpedal tension is high?

That is exactly one of the issues Pedal Plate was designed to solve. Each Pedal Plate has a hole through the rear of the plate. Riders who need more leverage, or who use pedals with high tension, can insert a tool such as a screwdriver through the rear opening to help release the plate.
